Alcohol

The Newcastle Entertainment Centre & Showground (NEC) is the holder of an ‘On Premise’ Liquor Licence. This Licence applies to the entire Newcastle Entertainment Centre & Showground precinct.

Therefore, the NEC is the sole dispenser and seller of alcohol at the Venue. Exhibitors who’s core business is the distribution/manufacture/sale of alcohol and would like to seek an approval for the distribution of alcoholic samples at the Expo, must complete the NEC’s Food & Beverage Sampling Application Form no less than 14 days prior to the event.

The Venue then assesses each Food & Beverage Sampling Application Form on a case by case basis and advises if the sampling has been approved and any conditions as part of the approval.

Venue representatives will also undertake regular compliance checks of exhibitor stands distributing alcoholic samples.

If at any time an activity or operation is considered non-compliant, unsafe or placing persons or the environment at risk, NEC representatives have the right to immediately postpone or cancel the activity until the issue is rectified.

Approved Exhibitors will also need to adhere to all licensing regulations, with all orders/sales of alcoholic products to be delivered after the event and no takeaway alcoholic sales are permitted at the Expo.
